Job Duties

The University seeks a qualified Dietetic Internship (DI) Director for a 12-month faculty appointment. This position provides leadership for the Dietetic Internship program and includes responsibilities in teaching, program administration, and service. The DI Director teaches Dietetic Internship courses and 1–2 undergraduate courses in accordance with SACSCOC instructional standards, while supporting high-quality instruction and student learning.

The DI Director is responsible for the overall administration and management of the Dietetic Internship program, ensuring full compliance with Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) standards. Duties include program planning and evaluation; development and implementation of policies and procedures; student recruitment, advisement, evaluation, and counseling; coordination with faculty and preceptors; maintenance of accreditation and student records; oversight of continuous program assessment; and timely submission of documentation required for graduates’ eligibility for the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) credentialing examination. The Director also ensures year-round coverage of program leadership responsibilities.

In addition, the DI Director participates in service activities that support the University, the profession, and the broader community. Service may include department, college, and university committee work, administrative assignments, professional engagement, promotion of the program and participation in department recruitment events, contributions to student and faculty life at the institutional, regional, or national level, and other duties assigned by the Department Chairperson.

Minimum Qualifications

The successful candidate must have demonstrated knowledge/experience working in the discipline;

Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills;

Proficient technology skills to include computer literacy;

Must have ability to work independently and collaboratively as required.

ABD considered if completed by August 2026.

Additional Considerations

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Prior teaching experience at an HBCU, scholarly work/research in food and mood/food is medicine, curricula development/management, student advising, and scholarly research is preferred.

Doctorate preferred.
