Job Duties

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Environmental Services Assistant supports the daily operations of the Director and department to ensure a clean, safe and sanitary environment throughout the facility. This position will assist in supervising housekeeping and laundry staff, maintaining inventory, ensuring compliance with health and safety standards, and helping implement departmental policies and procedures.

• Assist in the daily supervision of Environmental Services (EVS) staff, including assigning duties, monitoring performance, and ensuring work quality meets facility standards.
• Support the development, scheduling, and training of EVS team members to ensure compliance with infection prevention, safety, and sanitation protocols.
• Conduct regular inspections of resident rooms, common areas, and clinical spaces to ensure cleanliness, safety, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Monitor supply inventory, assist with ordering, and ensure appropriate use and storage of cleaning chemicals and equipment.
• Help oversee waste management processes, including regular disposal and proper handling of biohazard, medical, and general waste.
• Assist with floor care planning and implementation, including carpet cleaning, stripping, waxing, and maintenance of hard flooring.
• Respond promptly to housekeeping or sanitation concerns reported by residents, staff, or families, and ensure issues are addressed appropriately.
• Maintain accurate logs, cleaning schedules, training records, and quality assurance documentation.
• Support the Environmental Services Manager in preparing for health department surveys, safety audits, and regulatory inspections.
• Collaborate with nursing, maintenance, infection prevention, and administrative teams to ensure a clean, healthy, and welcoming environment for residents and staff.
• Ensure staff follow all OSHA, EPA, and state health regulations regarding cleaning procedures, chemical handling, and safety practices.

Minimum Qualifications

• Knowledge of environmental services operations within healthcare or long‑term care settings.
• Understanding of quality assurance practices and facility safety protocols.
Skills
• Problem‑solving skills to handle service issues, resident concerns, or equipment challenges.
• Ability to use cleaning and floor‑care equipment safely and efficiently.
Abilities
• Ability to supervise daily environmental services operations to ensure a clean, safe, and sanitary environment.
• Ability to monitor supply inventory and assist with ordering and cost control.
• Ability to conduct inspections, identify deficiencies, and implement corrective actions.
• Ability to maintain accurate documentation for cleaning logs, training records, and compliance.
• Ability to collaborate with nursing, maintenance, and administrative teams to support resident care.

Additional Considerations

What we are looking for
•Experience in a Long-term care setting is a plus
•Knowledge of environmental services operations, including housekeeping and laundry procedures.
•Understanding of infection control protocols and safety regulations. (ie: OSHA, CDC guidelines)
•Knowledge with cleaning chemicals, equipment, and proper usage.
•Basic understanding of inventory control and supply management.
•Knowledge of proper disposal methods including hazardous and biohazardous materials.
•Strong organizational and time‑management skills to manage schedules, assignments, and workflow.
•Skill in training employees on cleaning standards, safety procedures, and regulatory compliance.
•Ability to work in a fast‑paced care center environment while maintaining high service standards.
