The mission of the Finance Division is to provide exceptional customer service, build strong partnerships with DARS and the DSAs while creating innovative ways to deliver support to our partners and stakeholders, promoting excellence in our work product by fostering a team of high performing professionals while adhering to policies and procedures and upholding our roles as prudent financial stewards of public funds.

We are seeking a Finance Business Coordinator to provide business process, analytical, reporting expertise to the Finance Division as well as coordination with other Divisions and external stakeholders. This position maintains accurate financial documentation, supports system testing and reporting, develops training and communication, and provides essential coordination across internal and external stakeholders.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Finance Reporting 
  • Finance Business Processes 
  • Review Finance Intranet Sites 
  • Finance Customer Contact 
  • Administrative


Other duties and/or special projects as assigned.
Completes duties and/or projects as needed or directed by supervisor.

All Finance Employees are expected to work across functional areas to ensure that Division and Agency goals are met.

Minimum Qualifications:

Experience:

  • Experience processing financial transactions, including invoices, purchasing requests, budget entries, reimbursements, account reconciliations, expenditure tracking, and preparation of financial activity reports. 
  • Experience in interpreting financial or procurement policies to resolve processing issues. 
  • Experience working with financial systems, spreadsheets, and documentation workflows, including ERP, procurement systems, P‑card platforms, and budget tools. 
  • Experience with financial documentation standards, spreadsheet use, and audit requirements.


Knowledge:

  • Working knowledge of basic accounting principles, financial reporting, reconciliation processes. 
  • Working knowledge of accounts payable/receivable, purchasing and receiving, budget tracking. 
  • Working knowledge of statewide or agency financial policies, procurement rules, and internal controls.


Skills:

  • Demonstrated skill in reviewing, processing, and reconciling financial transactions accurately, analyzing financial data to identify discrepancies and preparing summary reports. 
  • Demonstrated skill in using spreadsheets and financial software for expenditure tracking, coding, and reporting. 
  • Demonstrated skill in applying purchasing and fiscal policies to ensure compliance. 
  • Demonstrated skill in communicating financial information clearly to staff, leadership, and vendors.


Abilities:

  • Ability to interpret and apply financial, procurement, and administrative policies and procedures. 
  • Ability to organize and prioritize multiple financial processes under recurring deadlines. 
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive fiscal information; research issues, identify solutions, and recommend corrective actions. 
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with program staff, fiscal offices, and external partners.

Additional Considerations:

  • Public sector financial or administrative experience preferred.

  • This position has been designated a sensitive position under Va. Code § 2.2 1201.1.
