About the Agency
Wilson Workforce and Rehabilitation Center (WWRC) is seeking a Plumber Steamfitter. This position supports the Department for Aging and Rehabilitative Services and WWRC Campus Facilities by maintaining and repairing the Center’s plumbing systems, including domestic hot and cold water, sanitary, and storm systems, along with related piping, valves, pumps, and water heating equipment. The role also includes repairing commercial appliances, assisting contractors with sprinkler system maintenance, and collaborating with other trade areas to ensure the facility’s appearance, functionality, and overall customer service standards are maintained.
Job Responsibilities
Maintain, install, and repair plumbing systems
• Install, alter, maintain, and repair a variety of plumbing apparatuses including, but not limited to, sinks, toilets, bathtubs, shower units, faucets, mixing valves, recirculation pumps, water heaters, automatic faucets, and automatic flush valves.
• Clear drain lines using a variety of equipment.
• Make repairs and alterations to a variety of piping systems, including repairs to pipe insulation when needed. Piping includes, but is not limited to, copper, steel, PVC, CPVC, cast iron, and PEX.
• Make rough sketches to create parts lists and estimate material costs.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
• Work with contractors as needed to meet campus needs.

• Install, service, and repair a variety of commercial appliances in both laundromat and kitchen settings.
• Equipment includes, but is not limited to, washing machines, dryers, dishwashing machines, steamers, and soda fountains.
Minimum Qualifications
Knowledge:
Considerable knowledge and experience using all tools in the Plumbing Trade.
Knowledge of Plumbing, Gas and Building Codes as related to install of water, sewer, gas and fire systems.
Knowledge of new construction, renovations, and repair best practices.
Skills/Abilities;
Ability to read, analyze and interpret blueprints as well as reading specifications.
Ability to plan jobs, create estimates and create plumbing sketches and layouts.
Education, Education, Licensure, Certification, Required for Entry into Position:
Valid Driver’s License
Plumbing Journeyman or Master Certification
Gas Fitters Certification
Special Assignments:
Other duties and/or special projects as assigned.
Completes duties and/or projects as needed or directed by supervisor.
Additional Considerations
Backflow Certification
Experience with computerized work management system.
Special Instructions
This position has been designated a sensitive position under Va. Code § 2.2 1201.1.
A fingerprint based criminal history check will be required of the finalist.
