Job Duties
The Southern Virginia Higher Education Center (SVHEC) is currently seeking a qualified individual to fill the position of Operations Services Coordinator. The Operations Services Coordinator serves as the first point of technical support for students, instructors, partners, staff, clients, and visitors using SVHEC facilities, technology, and learning spaces. This position is responsible for providing front-line helpdesk assistance, troubleshooting basic technology issues, supporting classroom and event technology, managing support tickets, and ensuring users receive timely, professional, and effective assistance. In addition to technical support responsibilities, this position also provides front desk coverage and building support during assigned hours. This role helps maintain a professional, safe, and welcoming campus environment by greeting visitors, answering calls, monitoring facility activity, providing schedule and event information, and assisting with general operational needs. This position requires strong customer service skills, basic technical knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to respond calmly and professionally to both technology-related and facility-related requests.
This position will also perform other duties as assigned.
Please note this is a part-time, wage position offering no benefits limited to working twenty-nine hours per week.
Minimum Qualifications
Working knowledge of office practices and procedures; Knowledge of help desk communications; Demonstrated ability to prioritize and perform a wide variety of administrative assignments and to effectively manage office activities; Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; Demonstrated ability to provide customer service to internal and external customers; Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite. High school diploma or equivalent.
Additional Considerations
Coursework in Information Technology, Business Administration or a related field. Experience with helpdesk ticketing systems. Knowledge of eVA or similar electronic procurement system. CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Security+, CompTIA ITF+, or other related helpdesk, networking, cybersecurity, or technical support certifications.
