Job Duties

The Geospatial Data Analyst supports the development and maintenance of geospatial data for the Virginia Base Mapping Program (VBMP). The bulk of the position's purpose is the maintenance and publication of the statewide Road Centerlines (RCL), Building Footprints, Parcels, Jurisdictional Boundaries and Address Point datasets developed through locally sourced GIS data. The position also includes technical support for VGIN projects and programs, enterprise geospatial services, support for the Virginia GIS Clearinghouse, and geospatial and cartographic production support services.

All VDEM employees are designated as essential personnel and may be required to work during emergency situations, such as inclement weather, and natural or man-made disasters/events as directed. This may require irregular work hours, work at locations other than the official duty station and may include duties other than those specified in the employee’s official EWP.

Minimum Qualifications

- Extensive technical experience and expertise utilizing ESRI ArcGIS software.
- Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills
- Experience working in a highly functional environment with critical deadlines
- Ability to support program management and Geospatial data publication functions
- Experience in analyzing and evaluating data including identifying trends and process improvement
- Experience operating in a shared workspace utilizing data development and data ownership best practices
- Effective in creating and presenting data reports
- Knowledge of the Virginia Base Mapping Program
