Job Duties:
"Telework is limited in accordance with the Commonwealth’s telework policy and this position is not eligible for telework immediately. This wage position is limited to 1,500 hours per annual cycle (May 1–April 30) and averages 24–25 hours per week. It does not include health insurance, retirement, or leave benefits."
The mission of the Department for the Blind and Vision Impaired (DBVI) is to provide services and resources which empower individuals who are blind, vision impaired or deafblind to achieve their desired levels of employment, education, and personal independence.
To enable blind and vision-impaired individuals to achieve their desired levels of employment, education, and independence. The Administration Division supports the Agency’s mission by providing quality financial management, facilities management, policy and legislative services, and performance management. All financial and risk management support services are delivered with the goal of maximizing the funds entrusted to DBVI by the Commonwealth of Virginia.
We are seeking a Fiscal Support Specialist (Wage) to provide operational, project, and administrative support for fiscal processes and related initiatives. This position supports transaction review, reconciliation, documentation tracking, compliance-related coordination, and special project activities that contribute to broader fiscal operations and reporting functions. The role works with program and administrative staff to gather, organize, review, and track information needed to support assigned fiscal and operational activities.
Duties include but are not limited to:

Completes duties and/or projects as needed or directed by supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications:
Experience in:
• Fiscal, accounting, or budget concepts through training or work experience.
• Microsoft Excel, including formulas, sorting, filtering, and chart creation for reporting.
• Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) for document drafting, presentations, and communication.
• Using databases or data management systems to enter, retrieve, verify, and organize information.
• Gathering, reviewing, and organizing financial or operational data to support reconciliations, project tracking, and documentation.
• Developing and maintaining tracking sheets, logs, or templates used in fiscal or administrative workflows.
• Coordinating tasks such as gathering information, monitoring timelines, and tracking deliverables for projects or initiatives
Knowledge of:
• Data visualization tools and concepts, including Power BI, Tableau, and advanced Excel charting.
Skills in:
- Strong organizational and time management skills with a record of maintaining structured files, supporting documentation, and audit ready records.
- High attention to detail, accuracy, and sound judgment when handling sensitive or complex information.
- Clear written and verbal communication with strong collaboration and teamwork skills.
- Demonstrated problem solving ability, initiative, adaptability, and willingness to learn.
Ability to:
• Review and interpret source documents to identify inconsistencies or missing information.
• Prepare clear written materials, including tables, summaries, status updates, and draft reports.
• Collaborate across teams to gather information and follow up on outstanding items.
