Job Duties

The mission of George Mason’s Gunston Hall is to stimulate the exploration and understanding of principles expressed by George Mason in the 1776 Virginia Declaration of Rights. George Mason’s Gunston Hall, a National Historic Landmark located on scenic Mason Neck in Fairfax County, Virginia, is pleased to announce an exciting opportunity for a creative and innovative individual to lead marketing and public relations efforts within a growing and vibrant cultural organization.

The Administrative Assistant will provide a broad range of administrative, operational, and program support to the Executive Director and to various agency program areas. The position involves extensive coordination and administrative responsibilities, including information processing, data management, and fiscal support, as well as performing a variety of general office duties. 

Minimum Qualifications

•Extensive and progressively responsible experience providing administrative support within financial, governmental, and business operations environments.
• Considerable knowledge of office practices, procedures, and administrative techniques.
• Extensive experience using business software applications, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint) and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems.
• Demonstrated ability to establish, organize, and maintain both paper and electronic filing systems in accordance with office and project requirements.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively and tactfully with individuals
• Proven ability to work with sensitive and confidential information while maintaining discretion and professionalism.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks, coordinate competing priorities, and meet critical deadlines in a fast paced environment.
• Ability to accurately enter, retrieve, and manage data in electronic systems and databases.

Additional Considerations

Knowledge of Commonwealth of Virginia policies, processes, and practices. Previous experience working with Commonwealth of Virginia Cardinal and Procurement system is preferred. Demonstrate experience with Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable is preferred. Experience in office management is a plus. QuickBooks experience is preferred.
