The Jamestown-Yorktown Foundation is an educational agency of the Commonwealth of Virginia offering programs and resources about early American history through its museums – Jamestown Settlement and the American Revolution Museum at Yorktown

The Learning team is part of the larger Learning and Community Engagement department; focusing on student programming both onsite in our museums, virtually, in the classroom and through support for self guided groups and homeschool educators.

Job Duties

The Lead Learning Facilitator assists in the delivery and development of historical education programs at the Jamestown Settlement and American Revolution Museum at Yorktown. Essential duties include facilitating guided tours, virtual programs, homeschool programs and outreach using dialogic and inquiry-based methods aligned with state and national standards. Works collaboratively to create programs around changing exhibits and generate ideas for revenue growth. Additionally, the position collaborates with leadership to develop and deliver staff training for new and veteran employees, supports teacher professional development, and serves as a mentor.

Minimum Qualifications

Excellent oral and written communication skills
Knowledge of or interest in 17th/18th century history and how it relates to today
Knowledge of or interest in current educational methodologies
Excellent customer service skills
Enjoys working with a diverse population of adults and children
Ability to learn and apply new information in a fast-paced environment
Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
Knowledge of or interest in program development

Prior experience in a similar setting or related role.
