Job Duties
Virginia State University invites applications for an Assistant Professor position in the Electrical and Electronics Engineering Technology (ELET) Program. This role is essential to the continued development of the ELET program and supports the university’s mission of academic excellence, student success, and community engagement.
Key Responsibilities:
• Teach undergraduate courses in Electrical and Electronics Engineering Technology, including both lower and upper division.
• Support curriculum development and laboratory instruction in areas such as:
- Power and energy systems
- Control systems
- Circuit analysis
- Digital electronics
- Microprocessors and embedded systems
- Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs)
- Hardware and software programming
• Engage in scholarly research and seek external funding through grant proposals.
• Collaborate with faculty across engineering disciplines and contribute to interdisciplinary initiatives.
• Develop industry partnerships and engage with professional organizations.
• Support ABET, SACS, and ATMAE accreditation and continuous improvement processes.
• Mentor students and contribute to capstone projects and experiential learning.
Minimum Qualifications
• Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field.
• Demonstrated industry experience in electrical or electronics engineering.
• Strong background in power, energy, and control systems.
• Experience in teaching, research, or technical leadership at the university or industry level.
• Commitment to student success and working with diverse populations.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.

• Smart grid system, micro grid, renewable energy systems, power system protection.
• Familiarity with ABET accreditation standards and academic program assessment.
• Ability to contribute to interdisciplinary research and innovation.
