Job Duties
The Western Tidewater Health District is seeking an energetic team member to join our public health staff as an Office Services Supervisor Senior. The district services the City of Suffolk, the City of Franklin, Isle of Wight County, and Southampton County. It is part of the Virginia Department of Health (VDH), which is dedicated to protecting and promoting the health of Virginians. VDH is made up of a statewide Central Office in Richmond and 33 local health districts.
The Office Services Supervisor Senior position will be based in the Isle of Wight Health Department but will require regular travel to the City of Suffolk Health Department. The selected incumbent will oversee staff who perform administrative, fiscal and /or clerical functions. Duties will include determining priorities, managing and coordinating all office support activities for assigned offices which may include registration, eligibility, reception and billing. Supervises staff and manages day-to-day assignments of direct report(s) to include scheduling and review work, training, counseling and formally evaluating employees including recommending and taking disciplinary action: evaluating and improving office productivity by recommending organizational changes if necessary for each office, shift or operational areas supervised. The ideal candidate will be able to interpret and implement state and local policies and procedures, assure compliance with program requirements, and collect and analyze data.
This position functions as a working supervisor providing support in Family Planning, Immunization, Maternity, Communicable Diseases and Sexually transmitted Disease clinics. The position supports the office schedule, performs clinical duties as needed to meet the office demand, collaborates with finance point of contact on accounts receivable functions and monitors accounts receivable to ensure the accuracy of data compliance with state and local policies and procedures. The position serves as a SME in eligibility issues and accounts receivable with an emphasis related to insurance for multiple offices; performs complex financial eligibility.
Other duties include deposits, completing the monthly fiscal report, secure collection and receipt books, and performing as a centralized billing contact to support the billing of patients, organizations and third parties according to timelines.

Minimum Qualifications
• Considerable knowledge of supervisory principals/practices, financial guidelines and accounts receivable policies/procedures.
• Excellent customer service and communications skills (oral and written)
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Ability to work and contribute within collaborative relationships, including the public
