Job Duties

The Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation (DPOR) is on a mission to provide the best customer experience possible as we build Virginia’s workforce, helping qualified people of all backgrounds start businesses and work in their chosen fields. As a Licensing Specialist, you will play a key role in Virginia’s economic vitality. The Licensing Specialist processes applications and changes for licensure/certification from businesses and individuals for the regulatory boards assigned to each section. This position provides telephone coverage and provides thorough and accurate information related to the statutes, regulations, policies, and procedures for the boards to which it is assigned.

In this position, you will serve as Licensing Specialist for the Board section of our Real Estate division.

This posting may be used to fill Licensing Specialist vacancies in other sections should the need arise within 90 days of the close date.

Minimum Qualifications

• Ability to follow verbal and written directions.
• Ability to actively listen.
• Ability to learn and continuously reference new information.
• Ability to gather and evaluate information to determine solutions and answer questions.
• Ability to analyze and compare information, draw conclusions, exercise discretion, and sound independent judgment, in eligibility determinations, strong interpersonal skills, and grammatically correct communication skills- oral and written.
• Ability to use decision-making skills to identify, organize, prioritize, and execute tasks within the expected time frame.
• Ability to work as a team member with limited supervision while handling multiple tasks.
• Exceptional customer service skills.

Additional Considerations

• Proficiency in the use of computer software applications.
• Experience with preparation of written correspondence.
• Experience with Microsoft Excel and data entry preferred.
• Experience in a regulatory environment preferred.
