The Jamestown-Yorktown Foundation is an educational agency of the Commonwealth of Virginia offering programs and resources about early American history through its museums – Jamestown Settlement and the American Revolution Museum at Yorktown
The Learning team is part of the larger Learning and Community Engagement department; focusing on student programming both onsite in our museums, virtually, in the classroom and through support for self guided groups and homeschool educators.
Job Duties
This role involves delivering curriculum-aligned, outreach-based historical programs for the Jamestown-Yorktown Foundation in classrooms across Virginia. The educator brings 17th- and 18th-century history to life for student audiences using interactive and dialogic teaching methods to create relevant connections between the past and present.
Minimum Qualifications
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Knowledge of or interest in 17th/18th century history and how it relates to today
• Knowledge of or interest in current educational methodologies
• Excellent customer service skills
• Enjoys working with a diverse population of adults and children
• Ability to learn and apply new information in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to travel to schools and work independently
• Knowledge of or interest in program development

Special Instructions
This position is a wage position with most work taking place during the traditional school year as we are providing in programs for students and supporting classroom instruction. We offer two levels of part-time employment depending on the amount of work you are seeking. Please take this into consideration and let us know what your preference would be.
650 hours per year, or 1250 hours per year.
