Job Duties

This position serves in an educational role and as a team leader, overseeing daily logistics and assisting with the development of educational programs using dialogic and inquiry-based methods for K–12th grade audiences. Additional responsibilities include the ability to supervise and mentor diverse staff, apply adult training methodologies, handle administrative duties and evaluate programming for maximum visitor impact.

Minimum Qualifications

Knowledge of:

Adult training methodology, interview, and evaluation techniques

Museum education techniques and resources

History, anthropology, museum studies or education, acquired through coursework, could be highly beneficial to this role

Skilled in:

Excellent oral and written communication skills

Supervising and mentoring a diverse staff

Presenting education programs to diverse seventh to twelfth grade and teacher audiences

Evaluating programming based on visitor impact

Ability to:

Motivate team members to develop programming and training that furthers strategic initiative

Work with all levels of staff, volunteers, and the general public

Develop, implement, and revise inquiry based and dialogic education programs

Organize resources effectively to achieve objective

Complete tasks in a timely manner

Think critically and work effectively in individual and team settings

Additional Considerations

Experience in development and implementation of seventh to twelfth grade lessons/activities

Experience in museum education program development

Experience in training adults and performing employee evaluations

Teaching experience at a variety of levels preferred
