The Virginia School for the Deaf and the Blind (VSDB) is located in the historic, vibrant city of Staunton, Virginia. VSDB provides superior education for students who are deaf/hard of hearing, blind/vision impaired, deafblind, and deaf or blind with other disabilities.

About this position
The Food Service Worker (Wage) at the Virginia School for the Deaf and the Blind (VSDB) will assist with the preparation and serving of meals, cleaning the dining and kitchen areas, washing dishes, receiving food orders and putting stock in correct storage places. Assist with record keeping.
The Food Service Worker (Wage) is to provide healthy, safe and sanitary meals for the students and staff of the school, with friendly customer service.
Minimum Qualifications
General Knowledge of health regulations
Skill in food preparation
Knowledge of institutional food equipment and cleaning supplies
Ability to follow oral and written instructions
Novice level of ASL as measured by the Sign Language Proficiency Interview or agreement to acquire the specified level within three years.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift 25 pounds, perform repetitive motion to include standing, sitting, reaching, lifting, walking, bending, and climbing.
Ability to tolerate various chemicals and varied temperatures.
Additional Considerations
Prefer some experience in food service.
