Job Duties

The Executive Assistant to the Chief Information Officer (CIO) provides high-level executive, administrative, and operational support to the CIO and the Information Technology Services (ITS) division within a university environment. This position serves as a strategic liaison between the CIO, university leadership, ITS directors and managers, faculty, staff, students, vendors, and external partners. The role supports efficient executive operations, communications, meeting and event coordination, records management,
procurement and financial tracking, and the successful execution of technology initiatives aligned with the University’s mission and strategic priorities.

The Executive Assistant to the CIO supports the Office of the CIO and Information Technology Services in delivering reliable, secure, responsive, and innovative technology services to the University community. Assist with executive coordination, communication, operational follow-up, and administrative processes that strengthen IT service delivery, advance institutional priorities, promote accountability, and position ITS as a strategic partner in support of teaching, learning, research, business operations, and student success.

 

Minimum Qualifications

Executive-level administrative support experience with the ability to manage complex schedules, competing priorities, confidential information, and time-sensitive assignments.

Advanced proficiency in Microsoft 365, including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and SharePoint, as well as other productivity, collaboration, and administrative systems.

Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; strong editing, proofreading, formatting, and presentation preparation abilities.

Demonstrated professionalism, discretion, sound judgment, diplomacy, customer service orientation, and attention to detail.

Ability to coordinate meetings, events, travel, procurement, records, reports, action items, and executive follow-up in a fast-paced higher education technology environment.

Progressively responsible executive administrative support experience, including support of senior leadership within higher education, information technology, government, or similarly complex organizations.

 

Additional Considerations

Previous work experience in higher education preferred.

Knowledge of university operations, Information Technology Services, IT service delivery, policy compliance, and stakeholder engagement is preferred.

Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Higher Education Administration, Information Systems, Communications, or related field preferred.

Minimum 5–7 years of progressively responsible executive administrative support experience, including support of senior leadership within higher education, information technology, government, or similarly complex organizations, preferred.

Project Management experience, preferred.

Microsoft 365 Certification, preferred.

Higher education governance experience, preferred.

Experience supporting executive leadership and board-level activities, preferred.
