Job Duties
The Accountant Senior performs advanced professional work involving the analysis
and interpretation of fiscal data and application of accounting principles to manage
key financial functions with agency-wide implications. Responsibilities may include
resource management, business operations, accounting system development,
budget data preparation, cost distribution, revenue control, and complex financial
analysis. The role may also involve managing accounts payable/receivable, fixed
asset accounting, and compensation accounting functions, including supervising
payroll technicians, ensuring timely payroll processing, and preparing federal and
state tax reports, as well as managing fringe benefits and premium conversion. The
position may supervise other fiscal professionals and support staff to ensure the
efficient operation of financial processes and compliance with regulations.
Minimum Qualifications
• Knowledge of accounting, financial, and budgetary principles, including accounts receivable/payable, reconciliation, and financial reporting.
• Experience utilizing data tracking and reporting systems to manage and maintain detailed financial records, generate reports, and analyze trends or projections.
• Working knowledge of budget preparation, analysis, and development, including research and trend analysis to support fiscal decision-making.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills to provide guidance to staff, report findings, and interact with internal and external stakeholders.
• Ability to reconcile financial data and resolve discrepancies using source documents and internal systems.
Additional Considerations
Experience in financial accounting with state and federal grant administration.
This is a restricted position, which is solely funded by the WIC and CACFP Program which is scheduled to end on 09/30/2026. The availability of funding is scheduled for review annually if funded by non‑general funds or before the grant expiration date and periodically thereafter. Continued employment is contingent on the continued availability of funds.
