Job Duties

Richard Bland College is seeking a driven, energetic, and relationship-focused Assistant Baseball Coach to serve as the program's Offensive and Recruiting Coordinator. As the program's lead assistant, this position plays a critical role in the continued growth, development, and success of our NJCAA Division II baseball program.

The successful candidate will lead the offensive development of our student-athletes, oversee all recruiting operations, and assist the Head Coach in all aspects of managing a competitive collegiate baseball program. This individual must be passionate about player development, talent evaluation, relationship-building, and cultivating a culture of accountability, excellence, and student-athlete success.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as the program's Offensive Coordinator, directing all aspects of offensive development, including hitting instruction, baserunning, game planning, and player progression, while collaborating with the Head Coach to implement the team's offensive philosophy.
• Design and implement individualized and team-based offensive development plans, utilizing modern coaching techniques, analytics, and player development technology when appropriate.
• Serve as the program's Recruiting Coordinator, leading all recruiting initiatives, including talent identification, evaluation, communication, campus visits, and relationship management with high school and travel baseball coaches.
• Develop and execute a comprehensive annual recruiting strategy focused on attracting high-character student-athletes who align with the program's academic standards, culture, and competitive goals.
• Assist with practice planning and execution, scouting reports, game preparation, player development, and in-game coaching responsibilities.
• Mentor student-athletes in their academic, athletic, personal, and leadership development, supporting their success on and off the field.
• Assist with camps and clinics, fundraising efforts, alumni engagement, community outreach initiatives, and other administrative duties as assigned by the Head Coach.
• Uphold and promote the mission and values of Richard Bland College while fostering a culture rooted in discipline, accountability, competitiveness, integrity, and servant leadership.

Minimum Qualifications

• Demonstrated knowledge of player development, including offensive, defensive, and/or strength and conditioning instruction.
• Strong understanding of college baseball, recruiting, and compliance regulations
• Ability to work evenings, weekends, and travel extensively during the season.
• Possess a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
• CPR, First Aid, and AED certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
• Ability to successfully complete required background checks.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills

Additional Considerations

• Collegiate coaching and/or playing experience (NJCAA, NCAA, or NAIA preferred).
• Demonstrated success developing hitters and implementing an offensive philosophy.
• Proven recruiting success with the ability to identify, evaluate, and sign impact student athletes.
• Strong organizational, communication, leadership, and relationship-building skills.
• Experience using recruiting databases, player development technology, and video analysis.
• Commitment to academic excellence, character development, and the holistic growth of student athletes.
• Ability to work evenings weekends, holidays, and travel extensively during recruiting periods.
