Job Duties

Monitor, analyze, reconcile, and maintain accounting records for daily deposits, wire transfers, and suspense/liability account transactions.

Complete monthly and fiscal year-end reconciliations for suspense accounts (deposits pending distribution) and unearned/deferred revenue accounts.

Ensure the accuracy and integrity of the University's cash receipt transactions by:
o Reconciling transactions posted to State bank accounts.
o Monitoring and analyzing Student Banner feeds.
o Maintaining balance and accuracy between Student Banner and Banner Finance systems.
o Processing daily deposit certificates received from the Cash & Investments Office and the online REDI VA system.

Analyze, monitor, record, and reconcile student-related liability accounts, including Suspense Accounts (255470) and Deferred Revenue Accounts (24060XX).

Review daily cash receipt information and electronic wire deposits received through REDI VA and prepare related deposit certificates and journal entries.

Process student tuition scholarship interdepartmental transfer (IDT) transactions.

Prepare and/or assist with fiscal year-end financial reporting requirements, including Department of Accounts (DOA) attachments.

Maintain organized files, records, and logs of all processed financial documents.

Perform other duties as assigned in support of General Accounting operations.

Minimum Qualifications

Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office and working knowledge of database and other software programs, i.e., Excel, Access, and Word.

Demonstrated ability to perform computations with reasonable speed and accuracy.

Ability to sort, prepare/batch, file, and maintain financial records, reports and spreadsheets; process financial transactions; follow policies and procedures; collect and enter financial data; and resolve keying errors.

At least three (3) years of accounting work experience in a fast-paced business environment.

Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and governmental accounting principles with the ability to apply accounting concepts to daily financial operations.

Experience reconciling high-volume, complex financial transactions, including transactions totaling millions of dollars, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Demonstrated attention to detail and ability to perform thorough transaction analysis.

Demonstrated effective written and verbal communication skills.

Strong organizational and interpersonal skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Excel, specifically with use of tools such as formulas, filters, lookup functions, etc.

Ability to meet strict month-end and fiscal year-end reporting deadlines while maintaining a high degree of accuracy.

Additional Considerations

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a concentration in accounting or business administration.

Experience working with the Banner financial system.

Experience working with the Cardinal financial system.

Experience recording, reconciling, and analyzing deposit transactions.
