Job Duties

Responsible for unloading freight and delivery trucks as well as moving shipments into receiving area. Receives all incoming shipments according to procedure in a timely manner, logging in, counting and filling out all required paperwork. Timeliness and accuracy are critical to ensure that all merchandise is available for sale promptly and vendors are paid within terms.

Price merchandise accurately, following procedures to ensure that prices are accurate and labels are neatly applied. Scan in new merchandise. Run all appropriate barcodes as needed for merchandise and master cartons. Routinely maintains all barcode equipment to ensure they are running properly.

Follow procedures to maintain organization and neatness of warehouse. Dust mop, sweep, and clean all workstations on a regular basis as scheduled and as needed.

Drive delivery van with store merchandise and other supplies to all retail shops on an established schedule and/or as needed. Pull merchandise and pack carefully to ensure that items are not damaged in transit. Create transfers, load delivery van at the warehouse and deliver merchandise to shops as instructed. Merchandise is to be packed, labeled, and delivered in a manner to facilitate efficient check-in by retail staff, according to procedure and instructions from supervisor. Boxes are generally moved by hand or with equipment such as hand trucks and pallet jacks. Deliver and pick up at the post office and other points as required.

Pack all outgoing mail orders carefully to ensure safe delivery and professional appearance. Accurately process shipments in computerized mail order program.

Notify Warehouse Manager or Warehouse Lead of any warehouse supplies needed such as thermal tags, pricing gun labels, and packing supplies before depletion.

Report all van maintenance needs to Warehouse Manager or Warehouse Lead so that they may be reported to Facilities Maintenance for repair. Perform routine maintenance inspection monthly, including checking tire pressure, oil levels, brake fluid, coolant, and other items as instructed; refills with fuel when level falls below a half a tank. Ensures that motor vehicle log is completed in accordance with agency procedure and turned into Warehouse Manager on the last day of the month, or next business day.

Assist with the preparation for physical inventories, organizing, verifying that all barcodes and UPC codes scan properly along with pre-counting merchandise according to procedure.

Within established guidelines assumes responsibility for continuity of warehouse operations in the absence of the designated supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications

Knowledge of basic warehouse practices and procedures, including receiving and filing.

Skilled in the operation of pricing equipment

Skilled in use of dedicated computer programs for entries, price checking, transfers, and mail order system.

Ability to assume responsibility and work independently.

Ability to work in stressful situations while maintaining proper pace and cordial working relations with other staff.

Ability to effectively communicate with retail staff and the public.

Primary Physical Demands

Ability to repetitively lift and move boxes weighing up to approximately 70 pounds.
Ability to climb and descend ladders with merchandise following proper safety standards.
Ability to twist, stand, and bend for long periods of time.
Ability to work with hand tools. At times this will include repetitive motion.
Ability to work in adverse weather conditions.
Ability to effectively communicate with retail staff and the public.
