Job Duties

Virginia Energy’s Mined Land Reclamation Program is seeking two Title V Reclamation Inspectors to support the statewide coal surface mining and reclamation inspection and compliance program. This role administers requirements outlined in Sections 45.1‑226 through 45.1‑270.7 of the Virginia Coal Surface Mining Control and Reclamation Act of 1979, as amended, and aligns with the current Virginia Energy Strategic and Operational Plans.

These positions play a critical role in ensuring that lands impacted by coal mining activities are restored responsibly and do not pose risks to the environment or to public health and safety.

Minimum Qualifications

• Knowledge of scientific and engineering principles related to the duties of this position.
  
• Ability to interpret and apply all reclamation laws, regulations, procedures, to evaluate on-site conditions and written mining and reclamation plans, methods, systems and procedures; to prepare property description information and realty documents.
  
• Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  
• Skills in use of engineering and scientific equipment (such as GPS unit, water/soil testing kits), the use of digital photographic equipment, and have proficient skills with personal computers and computer systems (Microsoft Office).
  
• Skilled in 4-WD vehicle operation and basic maintenance.
  
• Experience in environmental or natural science field such as forestry, geology, geography, engineering, agriculture, or considerable experience in the conservation or reclamation field.
  
• Experience with engineering principles, real estate information, environmental assessment, and construction cost estimates.
  
• Valid driver’s license and excellent driving record.

Virginia Energy is seeking two (2) Title V Reclamation Inspectors to serve the following regions:
• Reclamation Inspector 1: Wise, Dickenson, and Lee counties
• Reclamation Inspector 2: Buchanan and Tazewell counties
