Job Duties

The Senate of Virginia is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented individual to fill an Assistant Page Supervisor position in the Senate Page Program, a session-long educational opportunity facilitated by the Senate Clerk’s Office for 13 and 14-year-old students from across the Commonwealth.

Working as an integral member of the program team, the Assistant Page Supervisor coordinates daily workflow, task distribution, and student supervision for the Senate Page class. Under the direction of the Clerk of the Senate, and program leadership, this role manages real-time assignment distribution from Senators, agency offices, and legislative personnel, ensuring seamless operations in a high-energy legislative environment.

Key Responsibilities:
- Student Supervision: Manage and maintain active accountability for assigned 13 and 14-year-old Senate Pages throughout the legislative workday, including morning check-ins and active location tracking, while supporting student engagement and positive youth development.

- Workflow & Task Management: Distribute, track, and verify completion of legislative assignments and administrative tasks assigned by Senators, leadership, and agency staff in a fast-paced setting.

- Professional Standards & Decorum: Uphold and enforce strict standards of professional dress, conduct, and decorum among Pages at all times, modelling professionalism and character development for students.

- Stakeholder & Customer Service: Serve as a professional liaison interacting with high-level government officials, state agency employees, legislative staff, and visitors with exceptional communication standards.

- Educational Programming & Activity Facilitation: Facilitate structured educational, developmental, and civic engagement activities, including enrichment activities, experiential learning, and group facilitation.

-Operational Flexibility: Adapt swiftly to changing daily schedules, committee meetings, and legislative session requirements while maintaining high attention to detail.

Hours
Monday – Thursday, 7:45 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Friday, 7:45 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
Class and staff orientation dates, which are yet to be determined.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree required. (preferably in education, social studies, government, history or political science)

Time & Task Management: Strong organization, detail orientation, and demonstrated ability to manage tight deadlines and shifting priorities

Communication & Interpersonal Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with strong team-oriented collaboration and conflict management abilities

Physical Requirements: Ability to stand, walk, and move across Capitol facilities for several hours consistently

Adaptability: High degree of flexibility and emotional intelligence in a fast-paced workplace

Additional Considerations

• The preferred candidate must be team-oriented, an exceptional communicator and constant professional in a fast-paced environment

NOTE: Although experience in teaching, school administration, youth development, or student leadership programs is preferred, a prior school setting is not required.

• This is a paid, non-benefited position beginning January 11, 2027 and ending February 26, 2027.
