In this role, you’ll serve as a trusted resource and partner throughout the entire grant lifecycle.
As a Program Administrator, you’re a key partner to organizations across the Commonwealth that are using state and federal resources to strengthen their communities. You’ll serve as a primary point of contact for assigned grantees, helping them understand program requirements and navigate challenges. You’ll be there along the way providing guidance, answering questions, connecting partners to resources, and helping ensure projects stay on track and deliver meaningful results.
You’ll work across a diverse portfolio of community, economic development, housing, and infrastructure programs, including the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC), Indoor Plumbing Rehabilitation Flex (IPR Flex), Lead Hazard Reduction (LHR), Acquire, Renovate, Sell (ARS), Southwest Virginia Water/Wastewater (W/WW), or within housing development-specific programs like Virginia or National Housing Trust Funds or HOME Investment partnership programs, and other programs administered by DHCD.
What You’ll Do:
• Be a trusted resource for grantees by providing guidance, technical assistance, and support throughout the life of their projects.
• Navigate the details by interpreting and applying federal, state, and local laws, regulations, policies, and funding requirements to help ensure compliance.
• Solve problems and find solutions by researching issues, analyzing information, identifying trends, and making well supported recommendations.
• Keep projects moving by managing multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines while maintaining accuracy, accountability, and attention to detail.
• Build lasting partnerships with communities, grantees, local governments, nonprofits, consultants, and other stakeholders to support successful projects and sustainable community outcomes.
• Help turn plans into progress by monitoring project implementation and ensuring required benefits are delivered on time and within budget.
• Get out into the communities you serve through onsite monitoring visits, technical assistance, training, and other activities, including occasional day and overnight travel throughout Virginia
• Make things better by identifying opportunities to improve processes, strengthen program delivery, and enhance outcomes for the communities DHCD serves.
Why Join DHCD:
At DHCD, you’ll have the opportunity to be part of a team that is committed to making a meaningful difference in communities throughout Virginia. This role offers opportunities to grow professionally, develop new skills, and contribute to programs that improve the quality of life for Virginians.
