Job Duties
Contributes to the agency's public safety mission by managing daily activities of security supervisors, Corrections Officers and supervisees in an institutional setting. Supervises and monitors staff on assigned shift to ensure a safe, secure and productive environment. Leads and counsels staff. May coordinate work schedules and assign duty rosters for assigned shift. Contributes to administration of performance management system for staff. Conducts ongoing inspections to maintain, security, sanitation and good order of the institution. Interacts with management, staff, visitors, offenders and the public to maintain orderly and secure operations.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent. Valid Drivers License. DCJS Certification. Considerable experience in corrections or law enforcement. Experience supervising corrections staff. Demonstrated knowledge of practices and procedures governing security and/or administration. Working experience planning, scheduling, and/or organizing work for others to include timekeeping and duty roster management. Experience in reviewing and evaluating records and reports and applying post orders. Ability to sufficiently receive, understand, follow and give oral and written instructions. Working knowledge in the use of firearms, radio equipment, physical control devices, electric and electronic controls.
Preferred Qualifications:
Prefer coursework in criminal justice or related field from an accredited community college, college, or university or equivalent training or experience. Knowledge and experience with Evidence Based Practices. Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook programs.
