Job Duties
• The Assistant Director of Assessment will oversee the university’s assessment management system Watermark and provide regular and on-going assistance/ training to faculty and staff.
• Coordinate the collection and analysis of assessment data and provide feedback to faculty and staff.
• Assist with developing, administering and publicizing instruments (surveys, focus groups, climate studies).
• Assisting with compliance reports, self-studies, and proposals to include gathering assessment data, calculating and analysis of scores, and creating action plans.
• Coordinate training programs and workshops campus-wide on student learning assessment program effectiveness.
• Provide one-on-one assessment consultations and session with faculty and staff.
• Collaborate with faculty, Program Chairs, Academic Deans, and Institutional Research to collect and analyze to transform data from internal systems to actionable reports.
• Develop student learning outcomes and effectiveness outcomes for academic programs, co-curriculum, and administrative units.
• Ensure program level assessment measures and plans are aligned with accreditation standards.
• Coordinate data collection and analysis of assessment findings, implementation of improvement plans and strategies.
• Attend conferences, workshops, seminars, meetings, etc. to keep abreast of assessment best practices, research, and changes to state/federal/ accreditation standards.
• Maintains data confidentiality when working with personnel and student information.
• Maintains updated copies of academic programs, departments, and colleges assessment instruments, rubrics, and test banks.
• Maintains the meeting minutes, assessment coordinator, and program coordinator list for the University Assessment Advisory Council.
• Assists with developing assessment resources, updating the university assessment manual and the Office of Assessment webpage on the university website.
• Tabulates the data for the assessment results related to the Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP).
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
• In-depth knowledge of higher education assessment and accreditation best practices.
• Ability to perform qualitative and quantitative research.
• Ability to develop assessment plans, reports, and evaluation activities to foster a climate of evidence-based improvement and planning.
• Strong knowledge of institutional and programmatic accreditation standards (SACSCOC, CAEP, NASM or a comparable agency).
• Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups of faculty and staff to provide guidance, instruction, and professional development related to assessment and evaluation.
• Strong interpersonal and effective oral and written skills.
• Demonstrated experience using assessment management systems, SPSS, excel, spreadsheets, Microsoft Office Suite, Qualtrics and other computer-based information systems
Additional Considerations
- Master's degree in three years of experience in higher education assessment, program evaluation, data analysis, and knowledge of institutional accreditation standards. Strong written and oral communication skills.
