Job Duties
The Office of the Executive Secretary of the Supreme Court of Virginia is seeking applicants for the position of Accounting Manager with the Department of Fiscal Services.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
This position will primarily focus on special projects for the initial 12+ months and transition into the daily management of the accounting functions. The selected candidate will manage a team of professionals in Accounting to ensure the accuracy & timeliness of processes and compliance with state and federal regulations and generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). The position will provide leadership to general accounting, accounts receivable, fixed assets, internal controls, and financial reporting. This position will also be responsible for developing policies and procedures for their areas of responsibility.
Minimum Qualifications
Considerable knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and practices, preparation of financial reports, federal grant administration, fixed assets, accounts receivable, and general ledger. Considerable knowledge of supervisory/practices and procedures. Knowledge of the Commonwealth Accounting Policies and Procedures (CAPP) manual. Strong skills in spreadsheet and word processing software applications, and ability to use and extract financial data from automated systems. Ability to complete comprehensive analysis while using independent judgment to make decisions that will affect agency processes and financial resources. Ability to gather and analyze complex data, develop reports, and make effective decisions with sound judgment. Ability to develop, research, review and apply complex policies and procedures to operations, while ensuring compliance with federal & state laws. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Ability to serve as a resource to others in solving complex and sensitive problems. Demonstrated customer service experience both internally and externally and ability to lead and motivate a team.
Additional Considerations
Competitive applicants will have one or more years of general accounting management experience, preferably with using Cardinal, and a working knowledge of the Commonwealth’s Accounting Policies and Procedures (CAPP). Accounting degree and Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) preferred.
