Job Duties

*The objective of the Fiscal Services Department is to accurately and timely record, account and report all fiscal transactions in accordance with Federal and State Law, Departmental Regulations and Directives for the Nottoway Campus, including Piedmont Geriatric Hospital and the Virginia Center of Behavioral Rehabilitation, to the satisfaction of the Auditor of Public Accounts and in order to meet the needs of the patients, residents, and customers.

Purpose of Position:
Manage facility payroll operation in accordance with the Commonwealth of Virginia, Department of Accounts, State Payroll Operations requirements. Prepare and/or verify financial information reports and assure compliance with Federal and State regulatory requirements and policies and procedures applicable to the payroll function.


Minimum Qualifications

-Working knowledge of fiscal and accounting functions and operations required.
-Working knowledge of payroll operations, including with an automated system and employer provided fringe benefit programs and ability to administer such required.
-Demonstrated ability to prepare financial reports required.
-Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite required.
-Ability to work with numbers and perform mathematical functions required.
-Must be able to work in a deadline-related and pressure environment.
-Communication skills required to work with all levels of staff required.

Additional Considerations

-Working knowledge of state and federally accepted accounting principles and practices in regard to payroll preferred.
-Knowledge of working with overtime and shift differential preferred.
-Working knowledge of automated timekeeping system preferred.
-Working knowledge of state Virginia Sickness and Disability Program (VSDP) preferred.
