15% Performance Management Responds to instructions and feedback of supervisors in a constructive manner in order to improve personal performance. • Engage in constructive dialogue with supervisor. • Relates instructions and feedback of supervisors to personal knowledge, skills, and abilities. • Acknowledges and follows through on coaching and/or instruction related to performance correction, enhancement, and/or development.  Essential

15% Performance Management Provides day to day supervision of staff in a constructive manner in order to improve performance of each individual. Degree to which individual: • Communicates expectations of staff clearly and relates them to the goals and objectives of the department or unit. • Ensures staff receives frequent, constructive feedback, including interim evaluations as appropriate. • Ensures staff has the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to accomplish goals. • Ensures that the requirements of the performance planning and evaluation system are met and evaluations are completed by established deadlines with proper documentation. • Addresses and documents performance issues as they occur. • Actively participates in the recruitment and hiring process in accordance with the timeframes and expectations outlined by DBHDS and PGH, to ensure that vacant positions are filled efficiently. • Ensures safety issues are reviewed and communicated to maintain a safe and healthy workplace resulting in a reduction in work related injuries. • Completes a minimum of 5 MVP supervisory training courses per year. 40% Manages Allied Health Department • Provides direct administrative and clinical supervision of Allied Health employees, structuring the Allied Health Department to meet the needs of the facility by ensuring adequate coverage and implementation of services. • Develops and implements plans, policies, and procedures related to Allied Health services and updates them at least annually. • Monitors and manages the job performance and documentation of all Allied Health department staff, gives feedback and instruction, and initiates performance improvement plans when needed. • Develops and maintains the annual Allied Health Department budget. • Ensures Allied Health services and documentation are consistent with TJC regulations, CMS standards, hospital/DBHDS policy, and all relevant practice standards and regulatory agencies. • Responsible for ensuring that Allied Health treatment, storage, and office areas are clean, neat, organized, and hazard free. • Responsible for overseeing the procurement of equipment, tools, materials, supplies, and other items necessary to implement treatment and for maintaining comprehensive inventory control of all equipment/assets. • Oversees all assignments given to Allied Health staff regarding clinic/supply maintenance.  Essential

10% Coordination of Services • Assures integration of services by establishing collaborative practice with Nursing, Social Services, and Medical staff. • Fosters good communication among integrated services. • Encourages Allied Health clinicians to be available to serve on various committees throughout the hospital and ensures Allied Health staff remains vital parts of the movement towards recovery-based treatment and a culture of safety through training of direct care staff, PGI trainings, policy development, etc.  Essential

10% Active Treatment Services • Conducts evaluations and develops/implements appropriate plans of care to meet the treatment needs of patients. • Assures that individual or group treatment meets the patients’ needs, interests, and level of functioning. • Re-evaluates patients when clinically indicated or when appropriate per departmental guidelines. • Uses appropriate interactions and effective communication skills to facilitate positive patient outcomes.  Essential

10% Meets Specific Measures of Success • Assures that all Allied Health staff meet the minimum criteria for documentation in the medical record and that all Allied Health services are provided in accordance with TJC, CMS, DBHDS, and other pertinent regulatory standards. • Manages staff and resources to assure the department remains within budget, to include staffing and equipment. • Provides regular review of department processes to explore possible cost savings while maintaining quality care. • Maintains quality indicator data and identifies areas for performance/process improvement.  Essential

-Demonstrated progressive professional experience in the management and administration of a Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, or Speech department preferably in a Hospital/Nursing facility.
-Experience providing staff supervision, management, and coordination.
-Demonstrated knowledge, skills, and abilities in providing therapy to those with behavioral health disorders, neurocognitive disorders, or intellectual/developmental disabilities.
-Ability to work with a multidisciplinary team of professionals.
-Effective communication skills, ability to manage multiple tasks, and excellent planning and organizational skills

Minimum Qualifications

-Licensed by the Commonwealth of Virginia to practice as a Physical Therapist, Occupational Therapist, or Speech Language Pathologist.
-Experience in a supervisor position in a Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, or Speech Department.
-Undergraduate or graduate degree from an accredited college or university
