Job Duties

This position provides direct management of the Capital Construction projects, Architects, Engineers and Contractors related to the design, construction, renovations and maintenance reserve projects for the agency's Capital and non-Capital projects in accordance with state law, building codes, regulations, and the Commonwealth's Capital Outlay Manual. The incumbent would make professional recommendations and insure the constructability of design plans and specifications for agency construction projects.

Minimum Qualifications

The successful incumbent would be able to:
* Demonstrate skills in capital improvement processes, have exceptional customer service skills, and experience in construction project management, planning and budgeting/cost estimating.
* Successfully demonstrate the ability to use engineering practices, CADD/drafting and other computer software related to construction administration, have experience or be able to demonstrate the ability to procure and administer professional and non-professional services, contract administration, and construction practices.
* Have a valid Virginia Professional Engineer's (PE) License.  This position requires a valid Virginia Professional Engineer's (PE) License at hire, or ability to obtain one within six (6) months of hire. A graduate from an ABET-accredited engineering program, such as civil engineering, or a combination of education/training and experience to provide the needed knowledge and abilities is required to earn a Virginia Professional Engineer's (PE) License within six (6) months of hire.  Failure to obtain may result in termination. 
* A valid driver’s license is required for this position.

Additional Considerations

* Experience in engineering design, preparation of drawings and specifications and bidding procedures.
* Experience in permitting, construction practices, project management and contract administration.
* Experience overseeing design/or construction of roads, boat ramps, dams or fish hatchery related projects.
* Experience working with Virginia, Department of General Services (DGS) Division of Engineering and Building.
