Job Duties
Virginia Energy is in search of a Senior Abandoned Mine Land (AML) Project Manager to oversee the administration of the approved statewide AML Program. The AML program remediates priorities and issues affecting the health and safety of the coalfield residents and their environment. The program also promotes and manages grant funding for economic development of AML lands.
The incumbent in this role will need to provide multifaceted leadership to direct staff that will ensure AML projects are approved, implemented, and adhere to protocols and requirements. In addition, the incumbent will possess decision-making, interpersonal, and team building skills.

Minimum Qualifications
- Supervisory experience in an organization providing services to the public
- Significant experience in conservation, reclamation, and mining methods
- Working knowledge of scientific, regulatory, and engineering principles related to the advancement of abandoned coal mine reclamation projects to abate public health, safety, and environmental hazards Working knowledge of natural resources conservation, reclamation, project construction
- Experience managing the interpretation and implementation of rules and regulations related to federal and state abandoned coal mine reclamation programs
- Experience with engineering principles, real estate information, environmental assessment, overseeing grants, and construction cost estimates
- Experience using engineering and scientific equipment, video and photographic equipment, personal computer and computer systems
- Experience in operating a 4-WD vehicle and basic maintenance in accordance with guidelines and procedures
- Strong communication skills both orally and in writing
- Proficiency in the use of personal computers and software programs such as Microsoft Office Suite in a Windows environment
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a team member, pay attention to detail, and complete assignments within established timeframes
- Experience handling multiple responsibilities with competing deadlines, organizing tasks, and prioritizing workflows
- Ability to work in the field, navigate over rough terrain (i.e., stoop, crawl, and bend), and carry up to 30 pounds of equipment
- A valid driver’s license with a good driving record
