Job Duties

Virginia Tax is currently seeking an experienced and trusted HR professional to serve as a Senior Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP). The Senior HRBP will work as a strategic internal consultant and business partner with assigned customers in the following capacities: 

  • Provide customers with strategies and guidance in core areas including performance management, compensation strategies, talent development, workforce planning & development, policy development/compliance, and employee relations.
  • Successfully engage with customers to make an effective business case for recommended actions, approaches, and initiatives.
  • Effectively provide education, consultation and coaching to leaders and employees to support organizational effectiveness, leadership success, and employee engagement.
  • Proactively implement tactical and strategic HR services for agency HR programs, projects and initiatives.
  • Manage and/or participate in complex agency-wide HR projects, including classification & compensation studies and workforce planning and development projects.
  • Learn and understand the business of assigned customers to provide people related strategies that integrate into the business and create successful business outcomes.
  • Regularly meet with customers to provide integrated HR support for business initiatives and to maintain core relationships with leaders and employees in customer groups.
  • Promote employee recognition and engagement initiatives to assist in achieving employee recruitment and retention goals. 

This position is located in our Central Office in downtown Richmond, Virginia and is eligible for a hybrid telework schedule. The anticipated hiring salary is commensurate with experience up to $98,000.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Proven HR business partner and generalist experience in the areas of performance management, compensation, talent development, workforce planning & development, policy development/compliance, and employee relations.
  • Considerable knowledge of employment laws, regulations, policies, procedures, and best practices. 
  • Demonstrated ability to apply and interpret a variety of interrelated policies, procedures, and programs to address HR issues.
  • Strong consulting, coaching, negotiation, initiative, analytic, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proven organizational and project management skills, to include the ability to work effectively both independently and with larger teams.
  • Solid computer skills and HR Information System experience, to include technical proficiency with data analysis using Excel or other analytic software.
  • Successful experience in building and maintaining core relationships with leaders and employees in diverse customer groups.

 

Additional Considerations

  • Experience in compensation administration, job analysis and evaluation, and salary survey and structure analyses.
  • Experience developing and managing performance management strategies and programs, to include serving a key role in managing an agency-wide performance review cycle and reporting on progress throughout the cycle.
  • HR professional certification such as PHR / SPHR, SHRM-CP / SHRM-SCP, or CCP.
