Job Duties

Job Summary – The Supervising Deputy Clerk (Grade 11) is assigned operational responsibilities in a high volume, fast paced office with frequent deadlines. Ensures court’s instructions are executed and legal documents prepared with accuracy and in accordance with state and local policies. Delegates and oversees work assignments and ensures timely and accurate completion of same. Motivates and supports staff.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities – Assists the Clerk of Court in planning, organizing, and directing the day-to-day operations of the Clerk’s Office. The Supervising Deputy Clerk is responsible for supervising subordinate staff, establishing standards for services, ensuring dockets are correct, process and/or reviewing of daily financial reports, assist the front counter staff occasionally, communicate with other agencies i.e., Commonwealth Attorney, Court Services, Magistrates, and other agencies to ensure smooth dockets. Communicate with Clerk of Court about all court related matters. Answer phones, file paperwork, data entry, assists his/her staff with Performs other related duties as assigned. Other miscellaneous tasks as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

High School diploma or equivalent required. Applicants should be highly organized and possess significant knowledge, skills, and abilities in personnel management, time management, and performance management. Excellent written and verbal communication skills and advanced knowledge of office automation systems and computer software required.

Additional Considerations

Most competitive applicants will have considerable court, business, or office related experience.
