Job Duties

The Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) is seeking multiple customer service professionals to join our Roanoke Customer Service Center team. If you have experience in customer service, cash and credit card handling, problem-solving, and are eager to learn and grow in your career, we encourage you to apply.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide information on DMV policies, procedures, and regulations.

  • Process ID issuances and various applications.

  • Administer vision, written, and in-car road tests.

  • Manage vehicle registrations, titling, tax and fee collections, and other DMV services.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for engaging with diverse customers and stakeholders, especially in high-pressure situations.

  • Demonstrated customer service experience, including issue resolution.

  • Attention to detail for transaction accuracy.

  • Problem-solving skills in a fast-paced setting.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel).

  • Ability to comprehend and apply complex DMV laws, policies, and procedures.

  • Must hold and maintain a valid driver’s license with fewer than six demerit points.

  • Must be at least 21 years old and eligible for instructor certification for road tests.

Additional Considerations

  • Familiarity with DMV licensing, registration, and titling processes.

  • Understanding of public sector operations and regulations.

  • Experience handling customer inquiries and resolving escalated issues.

  • Administrative experience in document processing, data entry, and record maintenance.
