General Function:
Provide leadership and direction for all academic programs in assigned disciplines across all campuses.
Minimum Qualifications:
Master’s degree earned from a regionally accredited institution; Three (3) years academic administrative experience; Two (2) years of experience full time post-secondary teaching or equivalent. Must be able to be credentialed in one of the disciplines assigned.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversee academic programs in assigned disciplines including curriculum review, revision, development, course scheduling; identification of resources, budget development/implementation; assist in recruitment of students, course/program assessment and evaluation, reporting (including SACSCOC, TBR, governing, and programmatic accrediting bodies for division), and activities associated with programmatic accreditation. Ensure compliance with state-mandated performance measures and utilize data for program improvement.
- Design and implement strategies for measurable improvements in the performance of students in all assigned academic programs offered on all campuses or sites and on the Quality Assurance and Performance Funding metrics established by TBR.
- Design and implement annual and long-range planning for appropriate academic departments to meet the goals of the MSCC strategic plan and TBR initiatives.
- Respond to the needs of the local community by developing partnerships with industry leaders in fields related to their assigned disciplines in the service area.
- Recruit, retain and support full time and adjunct faculty. Ensure that credentials comply with licensing and accreditation requirements. Plan and organize adjunct recruitment, orientation and training events for assigned academic departments across all campuses. Ensure completion and submission of faculty performance evaluations within established guidelines and timelines.
- Conduct research into new academic programs and support approval and implementation process.
- Support faculty, staff and students by enforcing college and department policies and procedures. Serve as contact for formal student complaints and grade appeals for assigned disciplines.
- Implement the use of emerging and mobile technologies for classroom instruction
- Serve on college committees, academic leadership group and represent MSCC at regional, state, and national meetings as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of higher education statutes, policies and practices
- Knowledge of confidentiality statutes and policies as they apply to students, faculty, and staff
- Knowledge and understanding of accreditation processes in higher education including SACSCOC
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of individuals and constituencies in a diverse community
- Ability to make administrative and procedural decisions and judgments on sensitive, confidential issues
- Ability to lead a campus and foster teamwork among diverse disciplines, departments, and units
- Ability to develop positive relationships with faculty, staff, and community partners
