Job Summary:

This position is responsible for delivering quality instruction using integrative technologies. Faculty are expected to provide academic advising to students and participate in college, department and community activities related to the College’s mission.

Job Duties:

Teach 38-42 hours per year via on ground, online, hybrid or web-enhanced modalities as assigned. Teach evening, weekend, off-campus, dual enrollment and distance-based courses as required. Develop curriculum, evaluate and review of credit and non-credit courses. Evaluate and monitor progress to achieve goals and objectives (and those by any licensing, registering or certifying agency as applicable); assist with affiliation and accreditation efforts. Recruit and advise students and support persistence/progression through graduation. Maintain office hours and availability to students. Complete required College trainings. Complete all required reports such as attendance, Early Alerts, progress reports, grade submissions and administer and return surveys by the required deadlines. Attend college, department, and faculty meetings. Serve on college and department committees. Attend professional development activities. Participate in community service. Comply with all of the College’s and TBR’s policies and guidelines. Manages the clinical component of program including student assignments, student and clinical site documentation, and development of new affiliations. Coordinates effective communication among clinical affiliates, Medical Laboratory Technology Program Director and students. Provides a line of communication with clinical sites; serves as emergency contact; moderate travel required. Prepares, submits and maintains a master plan of clinical rotations for students in a timely fashion. Coordinates all paperwork needed by students for clinic eligibility. Prepares appropriate institutional reports and maintains summary of updated clinical information. Advises the Program Director of the general effectiveness of the program’s clinical education. Assists the Program Director in developing, reviewing, and updating the clinical educational objectives and competencies in accordance with recommended accreditation standards. Teaches courses, lectures, or labs as assigned by Program Director up to the maximum number of contact hours allowed by current accreditation. Adequately prepares all course materials and lessons. Prepares labs for assigned Medical Laboratory Technology courses. Provides each student with clear course expectations, evaluations and timelines through carefully written topical outlines and approved, standardized syllabus. Provides interesting and relevant assignments for students that demonstrate learning outcomes in a real-life setting. Ensures safety and sanitation of all labs, equipment and supplies. Works with the Program Director to resolve student concerns. Assists in preparation for accreditation inspection. Other duties as assigned. 

Minimum Qualifications:

Certified or certification eligible in Medical Laboratory Science (MLS)/Medical Technologist (MT).
Baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution in medical technology or in one of the biological, chemical or physical sciences.
Three years full time clinical lab work experience.
Licensed or eligible for licensure in Tennessee as a medical technologist.
Adequate knowledge and proficiency in content areas taught.

Preferred Qualifications:

Collegiate level teaching experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge and/or experience using a variety of instructional delivery modes.
Ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with a diverse faculty, staff, and student population.
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.

Pay Rate: $57,536 - $71,920 annual salary depending on experience
