Position Title: Associate Instructor of Pipefitting and Plumbing Technology, Full-Time
The Tennessee College of Applied Technology Elizabethton is accepting applications for the position of full-time Instructor of Pipefitting and Plumbing Technology to be located at the Instructional Service Center at Kingsport. This position works 7.5 hours per day and 37.5 hours per week Monday through Friday from 7:30 am until 3:30 pm.
- High school diploma or equivalent with post-secondary training in Pipefitting and Plumbing or related field
- Minimum of three years’ experience at Journeyman level
- NCCER Pipe Fitter Certification
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Associate degree
- Teaching experience
GENERAL DUTIES:
- Instruction: Facilitate the classroom instructional process: evaluate and monitor student progress; assign grades; provide academic assistance to students; maintain attendance and grade records; counsel and advise students on career goals; work to retain students; maintain required classroom and office hours.
- Course and Curriculum Development: Select texts, equipment, supplies, and other learning resources; participate in the purchase of needed program supplies and equipment; develop instructional materials; create and revise courses and/or curricula as needed; maintain updated course syllabi.
- Professional Development: Remain current within the instructional field and technologies; acquire, maintain, and apply knowledge of current instructional methodologies and materials; attend scheduled college and division professional development and in-service activities; support related professional organizations; participate in the annual faculty evaluation process.
- Service to Students: Comply with FERPA laws; participate in advising, recruitment, admissions, and orientation of potential students; assist students with job placement; support student activities including SkillsUSA and NTHS.
- Service to the College and Community: Assist in the recruitment and selection of college personnel as assigned; participate in accreditation, assessment, and performance funding processes; support and participate in the College’s decision-making processes; provide input and assistance with budgets; attend convocation and commencement exercises and participate in mandatory college programs; develop and maintain positive and cooperative relationships with colleagues; maintain an active program advisory committee; work to meet and exceed COE benchmarks for student completion and placement.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Possess organizational and communication skills necessary to be an effective instructor
- Ability to exercise good judgment in evaluating situations and making decisions
- Indication of willingness to remain current in the information technology profession
- Must commit to acquiring and maintaining program accreditation(s)
- Computer skills including general knowledge of Microsoft Office
SALARY: Commensurate with Tennessee College of Applied Technology salary guidelines.
WORKING CONDITIONS:

- Must be physically able to lift up to 50 pounds, stoop, stand and work, with or without accommodation, to demonstrate and perform all work-based projects.
- Operating a motor vehicle to travel within the college service area and in other areas as needed.
