Job Summary

The Tennessee College of Applied Technology Jacksboro is accepting applications for the position of Associate Instructor in the Power Sports Technology program. This is a full-time on campus position.

Job Duties

• Develop teaching outline and determine instructional methods utilizing knowledge of specific training needs and effectiveness of such methods as individualized and group instruction, lecture, demonstration, and conference

• Market Power Sports Technology Program to regional employers and prospective students

• Must maintain an active advisory committee and communicate with business and industry on a regular basis

• Participate in professional development activities as needed to remain current in the field

• Must monitor and evaluate student progress

• Maintain accurate attendance, progress, counseling notes, and grades in the college’s Banner software system

• Accurately maintain program and student records

• Maintain principles and methods of good teaching and supervision corresponding with the Power Sports Technology curriculum

• Student record keeping, student recruitment, placement and follow-up

• Maintain good public relations with business and industry

• Performs related work and other duties as assigned 

Minimum Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Three years of experience in the occupation to be taught

Preferred Qualifications

• Post-secondary diploma or degree preferred

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Must possess excellent planning, organizational, and communication skills for the effective transfer of knowledge and skills to students for job placement of graduates in the field
• Willingness to acquire new skills and remain current in the field
• Be willing to learn and use individualized instructional techniques
• Ability to establish and maintain effective interpersonal working relationship with students, faculty, staff, and general public
• Must have excellent professional ethics

Physical Demands / Working Conditions

  • Use of computer
  • Normal standing, sitting, and walking.
  • Work is performed in a classroom and shop setting with frequent interruptions and distractions.
  • Must be physically able to lift, stoop, stand and work, with or without accommodation, to
    demonstrate and perform all work-based projects in a classroom and shop setting.
  • Operate a motor vehicle to travel within the college service area and in other areas as needed.

SALARYCommensurate with qualifications, experience, education, and in accordance with the guidelines established by the Tennessee Board of Regents. Salary range for an Associate Instructor is $50,894-$61,074.
