Job Summary

The Utility Worker supports the overall upkeep and operational functionality of the community college campus. This role performs a variety of general maintenance and grounds keeping safe, and well-maintained facilities.

Job Duties

• Performs or assists with event set up/take down, and relocating office furniture, supplies, and/or equipment.

• Performs or assists with general grounds keeping tasks including mowing, trimming, edging, weeding, mulching, hedge trimming, leaf raking/blowing, and snow/ice clearing and removal.

• Assists other staff with custodial and/or light maintenance tasks as required.

• Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Experience in the operation of mowers, string trimmers, leaf blowers, and other typical grounds keeping equipment.

Preferred Qualifications

Previous experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Knowledge of proper methods of safely moving large and/or heavy items without causing personal injury to oneself and others or causing damage to the items being moved.
• Knowledge of occupational hazards and proper use of personal protective equipment and other necessary safety precautions.
• Ability to follow instructions.
• Ability to lift at least 60 lbs.
