Job Title: Cashier Office Assistant (Temporary Part-Time)
Job Grade: TH - $15.00 hourly rate
Campus Location: Walters State Community College - Morristown Campus (Employees are assigned to a “home” location but may occasionally or regularly be required to work at other WSCC locations.)
Job Purpose: The purpose of this position is to assist students, staff and the community with many types of payments and questions. Responding to student emails. Answers incoming and place outgoing telephone calls.
Essential Job Functions:
- Utilize TouchNet Cashiering, Banner and other various computer systems.
- Answer telephone calls and questions.
- Reconcile various types of transactions and accounts.
- Cashiering (processing payments)
- Assist in compilation and preparation of data for various reports.
- Perform clerical duties, some accounting duty functions, and other duties as assigned.
- Adhere to cash handling policies.
- May perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Two to four years of career experience
- Experience in Microsoft Word & Excel, keyboarding and data entry skills, data analysis, personal computer skills, filing and telephone etiquette.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions and complete assigned tasks accurately with general supervision.
- Exemplify initiatives, sound judgement decisions, some knowledge of college practices and understanding of college philosophy.
- Ability to work effectively with other to adapt to change to be flexible and exhibit a positive influence.
- Ability to maintain confidential information and adhere to policies and regulations.
- Stable and progressive work history.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge and experience with Banner and TouchNet Cashiering

Leadership & Supervisory: The incumbent has no responsibility or authority for the supervision of others, or for program administration/project direction. The tasks performed in this position are structured and often routine. Work is performed in the immediate presence or close proximity of one’s supervisor, who is consulted when unfamiliar situations occur.
Environment & Working Conditions: Duties are performed in a typical office environment that is clean, well lit, quiet, and temperature controlled. Extended periods of time using a keyboard could lead to stress injuries such as carpal tunnel. Light lifting is occasionally required.
Physical Demands (including requirements for travel or working nights/weekends/holidays):
- Requires ongoing verbal communication via telephone and in person.
- Sits for long periods of time staring at a computer screen and using a mouse and keyboard.
- Travel to nearby campuses is sometimes necessary.
