HOURS: 7:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. (max. 37.5 hrs./wk.) SHIFT: Days, Mon-Fri

SUMMARY
The Human Resources Specialist/Assistant provides Human Resources support to TCAT Shelbyville, supports the President/Vice President as needed, manages the front office, and functions as the school's payroll officer.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Associate’s degree or equivalent experience
- 3+ years of approved work experience
- Articulate written and oral communication skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Office programs
- Valid driver’s license and ability to operate state vehicle
PREFERRED QUALIFICTIONS
- Prior experience in human resources or equivalent environment
- 3+ years of work experience in post-secondary education
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS ABILITIES
- Strong customer service skills; effective oral and written communication skills; and excellent organizational
and planning skills
- Ability to work with diverse populations, establish and maintain effective interpersonal working relationships, and deal tactfully with students, faculty, staff, community partners, and the public
- Ability to effectively utilize Microsoft (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, Teams) and other computer software related to the occupation
- Ability to exercise good judgment in evaluating situations, making decisions, and problem solving
- Ability to make public presentations in small or large group settings
- Maintain valid driver’s license and ability to operate a state vehicle to travel between campus locations
- Physical ability to lift 30 lbs. and to move about the facility to perform all occupational duties, with or without accommodation
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintain personnel files for full-time and part-time employees across all campuses
- Conduct new hire and employee orientations for all campuses (EPAF) and complete all required forms
- Assist employees with data regarding personnel benefits, insurances, etc.
- Prepares and executes payroll for full-time and part-time employees, working closely with TBR Shared Services and the TCAT Shelbyville business office
- Functions as the backup timekeeper, tracking submissions of annual leave, sick leave, comp time, holidays, military leave, family leave, etc.
- Maintain records and reports regarding employee leaves
- Maintains, along with the Vice Presidents, the Employee Handbook, as well as local policies and procedures, in accordance with Tennessee Board of Regents policies and guidelines
- Perform duties as the recording secretary for the General Advisory Committees/all college events that require minutes to be taken
- Participates in the hiring process, including advertising of positions, collection of applications/resumes, letters to applicants, etc.
- Acts as the liaison with TBR Shared Services in enrolling associates in and answering questions pertaining to benefits and payroll, withholdings, longevity, etc.
SPECIFIC DUTIES
- Serve as the institution’s Title VI Coordinator
- Participate in in-service training, workshops, and other programs which provide professional growth.
- Attend all required staff meetings.
- Other duties as assigned by administration.

SALARY RANGE: $37,866 – 47,332 annually, commensurate with experience and TBR/Tennessee College of Applied Technology salary guidelines.
