Job Purpose: To provide excellent customer service to current and prospective students, parents, co-workers, and other visitors in the Financial Aid Office. Assist students with general questions concerning Columbia State Community College and specific questions concerning financial aid electronically and in person

 

Essential Functions:

  1. Receive students and guests, in person and virtually, in a pleasing and helpful manner and ensure adequate information is distributed to the clients.
  2. Answer the telephone and coordinate the responses to Financial Aid emails, facilitate Service Desk software for Financial Aid and collaborate with EDAmerica as needed.
  3. Assist the clients with the completion of forms and the acquisition of required documents.
  4. Maintain a positive, efficient and comfortable environment for students and guests.
  5. Monitor the department specific emails such as program of study and respond.
  6. Maintain an on-going understanding of financial aid rules and regulations.
  7. Assist in the coordination of Financial Aid events, such as Constitution Day and FAFSA Frenzies.
  8. Assist in maintaining the operational calendar for required submissions and reports and student communications.
  9. Assist the director and associate directors in the development of communications for internal training.
  10. Perform clerical duties such as typing, correspondence, travel claims, purchase orders, work orders and other documents; duplicating and filing correspondence, etc.
  11. Understand the general function of financial aid and assist other team members if needed through functional cross-training.

 

Supplemental Functions:

  1. Maintain files accurately, electronically.
  2. Review and update electronic platforms such as chatbots and web pages.
  3. Handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  4. Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

 

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Work Characteristics:

  1. Ability to communicate effectively, accurately and appropriately, verbally and in writing.
  2. Ability to maintain confidentiality of records and information.
  3. Efficiently operate a personal computer, associated software (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.) service desk software (i.e. KACE) and student information systems (i.e. BANNER)
  4. Ability to interact in an effective and appropriate manner with diverse populations, the Columbia State community and the public.

 

Education, Training, and Experience:

  1. High School Diploma or equivalent required
  2. Computer skills in using Microsoft Office and the Internet required
  3. Associate’s degree in business, office administration, or related field preferred
  4. Previous office experience with word processing and data entry skills preferred
  5. Customer Service experience in a fast-pace environment preferred

 

 

Working Conditions:

  1. Flexible work hours; overtime may be required during peak periods
  2. Requires travel to campuses and schools in the nine-county service area and to other locations for meetings and other job-related activities.
  3. Normal sitting and movement in an office environment
  4. Visual and Hand usage of computer terminal/PC
  5. Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and bend and stoop.

 

Hiring Salary Range$29,090- $34,900

This position is based at the Columbia, TN Campus.
