JOB SUMMARY
Under the direct supervision of the Manager of Accounting Services, the Financial Analyst will be responsible for assisting with accounts receivable and fee payment processes, as well as supporting various general accounting functions within the Business & Finance Office. This role will involve maintaining accurate financial records, preparing reports, and collaborating with team members to ensure efficient financial operations. The Financial Analyst will also assist in resolving discrepancies and providing excellent customer service to both internal and external stakeholders.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS / QUALIFICIATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in accounting, business administration or related field.
- A minimum of three years’ experience within accounting-related Fields such as financial reporting; account reconciliation; fixed assets/inventory; auditing.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Closing Procedures and Financial Reporting (15%)
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures, including the recording of adjusting and closing entries, as well as preparing financial reports and note disclosures.
Student Accounts Management (25%)
· Assist with student accounts functions, including analyzing account details, managing invoicing processes, and supporting collection efforts to ensure timely payments.
Reporting and Reconciliation (10%)
· Prepare various reports and perform reconciliations, including aligning student accounts records with enrollment services records to ensure data accuracy and consistency.
Bank Reconciliation Support (10%)
· Assist with bank reconciliations to verify account balances, ensuring that discrepancies are identified and resolved in a timely manner.
Credit Card Transaction Recording (10%)
- Assist with the recording of monthly credit card transactions, ensuring all expenses are accurately documented and categorized for financial reporting.
Grant Financial Reporting (10%)
- Assist with the preparation and analysis of grant financial reports, ensuring compliance with funding requirements and accurate tracking of expenditures.
Fixed Assets and Inventory Reporting (10%)
- Assist with the reporting of fixed assets and inventory, ensuring accurate tracking, valuation, and compliance with accounting standards.
Audit Support and General Accounting (10%)
- Assist with audits and perform various general accounting duties, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records and compliance with accounting principles.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Knowledge of accounting theories and practices related to auditing and budgeting procedures.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for interpreting policies and procedures, providing clear information, and compiling accurate summaries and reports.
- Excellent interpersonal skills for establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.
- Proficient in operating a computer, accurately processing monetary transactions, prioritizing and managing workflow, maintaining confidentiality, adapting to changing work demands, and using sound judgment in decision-making.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams.
- Experience with Banner is preferred.
WORK ACTIVITIES & EQUIPMENT
Job responsibilities involve the use of a personal computer and peripheral devices. Photocopy and other office machines are frequently used.
JOB LOCATION
The position is an on-site role at the D.F. Adkisson Administration Building on the main campus of Cleveland State Community College in Cleveland, Tennessee. This will be the primary workplace, with occasional travel to off-campus sites within the five-county service area. Additionally, state-wide travel may be required for TBR initiatives and state affiliate meetings as needed.
