Motlow State is located in the beautiful rolling hills of middle Tennessee and has four campuses that serve students from eleven counties. General Function:
The Library Associate 2 is a major provider of the library’s customer, circulation, and reference services and gives computer assistance and one-on-one instruction to library patrons as needed. The Library Associate II may also facilitate the operation of Testing Centers across Motlow Campuses.
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent and one year of customer service experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Associate’s Degree earned from a regionally accredited institution and at least two years customer service experience.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
LIBRARY USER SERVICES: Assists and teaches students, faculty, and community users how to access and acquire physical and digital information through the library’s catalog. Supports all aspects of circulation services. Assists patrons in the use of library materials, computer databases, and library equipment.
LIBRARY SUPPORT SERVICES: Records of daily library statistics and gate counts. Collaborate in collecting and reporting library statistics data on a daily or monthly basis. Produces Motlow IDs as required for students, faculty, staff, and community users. Troubleshoots library equipment by coordinating maintenance and service requests, monitoring inventory of supplies, and ordering essential items as needed. Provide professional and courteous responses when handling the library phone, welcoming students, faculty, staff, and community users, and promptly addressing voicemail or email messages. Foster effective collaboration with all library areas, including distance education services, to enhance overall library offerings. Use Google and Microsoft Suites in addition to the Library's ILS software, databases, and catalog to facilitate access to information resources. Manage the movement of library materials, including lifting and carrying boxes weighing up to forty pounds and transporting book carts and equipment between buildings and rooms as required. Undertake travel to other campus locations as assigned or needed to facilitate library services. Contribute to the campus community by serving on designated committees as assigned and/or appointed. Assists students, faculty, and community users how to use virtual reality and other extended reality (XR) equipment and software
TESTING CENTER SERVICES:
● Scheduling and Proctoring Exams: Schedule and proctor exams for students and faculty as needed. Ensure a secure and controlled testing environment, adhering to all testing center guidelines and policies.
● Maintaining Testing Equipment: Coordinate the maintenance and upkeep of all testing equipment, including computers, software, and any specialized equipment required for testing. Report any technical issues promptly and ensure timely resolution.
● Acquire certification to administer tests as needed.
● Assisting with Accommodations: Work with students who require testing accommodations, ensuring that all necessary arrangements are made to accommodate their needs. This may involve communication with disability services and faculty members.
● Data Management: Maintain records of testing sessions, including data related to the number of tests administered, test duration, and any incidents or issues that arise during testing. Use this data to generate reports for assessment and improvement.
● Communicating Testing Center Policies: Clearly communicate Testing Center policies and procedures to students, faculty, and staff. Provide guidance and support to those utilizing the Testing Center's services.
● Accessibility and Inclusivity: Ensure that the Testing Center is accessible and inclusive for all users, including individuals with disabilities. Work with the library's accessibility services to implement necessary accommodations.
● Other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Working knowledge of books, eBooks, and library databases.
- Knowledge of customer service principles and ability to apply them in a library setting
- Demonstrates a working knowledge of cloud storage, including Microsoft OneDrive and Google Suite.
- Has experience using D2L or a similar Learning Management System
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of individuals and constituencies in the campus community.
