Job Summary
This is a full-time position working under general supervision of the Maintenance Manager or designee. The position independently plans and performs complex inspections, servicing, and repairs of electrical, plumbing, heating, cooling, ventilating, and mechanical systems. The role requires advanced knowledge and demonstrated ability in all three trades—electrical, plumbing, and HVAC—and the exercise of sound judgment to diagnose issues, prioritize work, and ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of campus systems.
Job Duties
- Perform preventive maintenance on electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems.
- Inspect, troubleshoot, maintain, repair, and as needed, install or upgrade electrical systems, including panels, circuits, breakers, lighting, outlets, controls, and motors, in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and safety standards.
- Inspect, troubleshoot, maintain, repair, and as needed, install or upgrade plumbing systems, including fixtures, piping, pumps, water heaters, backflow devices, and drainage systems, in compliance with applicable codes and safety standards.
- Inspect, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair HVAC systems, including split systems, rooftop units, heat pumps, chillers, boilers, fan coil units, and BAS/DDC controls.
- Maintain accurate maintenance logs, test reports, refrigerant records, and regulatory documentation.
- Perform other related duties or special projects, as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Three (3) or more years of combined commercial or industrial experience in HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems, including a minimum of two (2) years of experience in electrical systems and two (2) years in plumbing systems.
• EPA Universal Certification Valid driver’s license or ability to obtain within one year of employment.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Working knowledge and practical application of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and applicable plumbing codes.
Preferred Qualifications
• Associate’s degree in HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing Technology, or related field; or completion of a recognized Journeyman program in one or more of the three trades.
• Licensed electrician and/or licensed plumber strongly preferred.
• Certified HVAC mechanic.
• Experience in building and/or energy management systems.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Advanced knowledge of electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems.
• Ability to evaluate and diagnose system failures across all three trades and make timely, safe repairs.
• Skilled in the use of electrical, plumbing, and HVAC diagnostic tools.
• Ability to install, repair, or adjust wiring, conduit, panels, valves, piping connections, fittings, couplings, and controls.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, plumbing diagrams, HVAC blueprints, and building systems drawings.
• Ability to maintain accurate service and compliance records across trades.
Physical Demands / Working Conditions
Pay Rate: $43,282 - $51,939 (Annual salary depending on eligible experience, which is defined by the current compensation plan.)
