Job Summary

The Tennessee College of Applied Technology Knoxville is excited to announce an opening for a full-time Allied Health Specialist position in our Allied Health department at our Knox Regional Health Science Education Center campus. This is a full-time position that will work a 37.5-hour workweek.

The Allied Health Specialist will create a welcoming, high-energy environment that fosters interaction among students and staff, ensuring that all individuals, including adult learners, feel valued and supported. This role involves providing exceptional customer service to all enrolled students at TCAT Knoxville locations.

Job Duties

  • Student Engagement and Support: The Allied Health Specialist will create a welcoming, high-energy environment that fosters interaction among students and staff, ensuring that all individuals, including adult learners, feel valued and supported. This role involves providing exceptional customer service to all enrolled students at TCAT Knoxville locations, addressing their unique needs and concerns. The Allied Health Specialist will be familiar with TCAT Knoxville student policies and procedures and will assist in both advising students and connecting them with needed resources. - (Essential)
  • Communication: The Allied Health Specialist will manage outgoing communications with enrolled students regarding clinical requirements, missing documents, and needed information, ensuring timely and accurate information dissemination. - (Essential)
  • Community Networking and Support Services: This position involves establishing and maintaining networks with clinical sites and other external partners to ensure the success of TCAT Knoxville students. - (Essential)

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required, preferred degree in Healthcare, Business, Education, or Healthcare Administration from an accredited institution.
• Minimum of three years’ professional work experience in customer service, healthcare, education, recruitment, or related fields.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Strong customer service skills; must possess effective oral and written communication skills to convey college information accurately and to present information to large groups and individuals effectively
• Must have the ability to utilize Microsoft Office programs, audio/visual equipment, and software; and working knowledge of maintaining student records and/or sensitive information
• Must have the ability to multitask with good organization and planning skills

Physical Demands / Working Conditions

Typical Duties: The Allied Health Specialist is responsible for the planning and oversight of clinical experiences, with a focus on scheduling and coordinating clinical placements using the Healthstream system. This role includes supporting student advising and orientation related to clinical experiences, such as immunizations and background checks. The Specialist acts as a liaison between the nursing program and clinical sites, ensuring compliance with facility and accreditation requirements in collaboration with contract liaisons.

Key responsibilities also include developing and updating evaluation tools in collaboration with the Director of Nursing & Allied Health and nursing faculty, as well as maintaining clinical calendar schedules for adjunct faculty and clinical schedules for students. Assists in the development and updates of the Practical Nursing handbook, while also providing support for other allied health programs as needed.

It is important for the Allied Health Specialist to maintain accurate records of student clinical hours, evaluations, and faculty assignments, keeping track of missed clinical hours and required makeups. Attendance at departmental meetings and regular communication with students and faculty regarding clinical expectations and performance are crucial aspects of this role, along with any other duties as assigned.

SALARY: Commensurate with education and experience according to Tennessee Board of Regents guidelines, between $43,888 - $54,251.
