The Tennessee College of Applied Technology - Dickson is accepting applications for a second full-time instructor in the Automotive Technology program at the Clarksville Campus. This is a grant-funded position.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum of Technical Diploma in instructional area or equivalent higher education training with credentials in related field. Associate Degree preferred. A comparable combination of education and related experience may be considered.
  • Minimum three (3) years of full-time experience in the automotive mechanics field within the last five (5) years.
  • Must possess all required ASE certifications and/or accreditations for the field or the ability to become certified within twelve (12) calendar months.
  • Must possess computer skills.
  • Strong hands-on technical background in field of instruction.
  • Must possess a high degree of knowledge in all areas of the automotive mechanics field.

SKILLS

  • Must possess the organizational and communication skills necessary to be an effective teacher and interact with high school and adult students.
  • Must show evidence of good character and mature attitude.
  • Must be willing to remain current in the instructional field and maintain personal certifications and program accreditation(s).
  • Must have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, faculty, staff, the general public and business/industry representatives.
  • Good time management skills necessary.
  • Prior teaching or evidence of ability to teach students a plus.

GENERAL DUTIES:  The Automotive Technology Associate Instructor is responsible for providing individualized theory and hands-on instruction to adult and high school students to prepare them for employment in the field of auto mechanics. The Automotive Associate Instructor must monitor, grade and evaluate individual student progress; maintain student records in the college’s student records management software; maintain appropriate documentation; submit timely reports; and assist in recruitment of new students and placement of graduates. The Associate Instructor must also maintain good public relations with business and industry, maintain an active advisory committee and cooperate with outside agencies. This position will also supervise and follow-up on students participating in cooperative education. Some travel is required. Areas of instruction include training in the National Automotive Technicians Education Foundation (NATEF) certified program and the eight areas of ASE certification: engine repair, transmissions and transaxles, manual drive train and axles, suspension and steering, brakes, electrical and electronic systems, climate control, and engine performance. This position is full-time and reports to the Clarksville Campus Director. Scheduled work hours are Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Scheduled class hours are 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. This position is grant-funded and is not a remote position.

SALARY:  $50,894-$61,074 per year ($26.10-$31.32 per hour).  Commensurate with Tennessee Colleges of Applied Technology salary guidelines and directly related experience.
