Associate Nursing Instructor

The Tennessee College of Applied Technology - Elizabethton is accepting applications for the full- time position of Associate Instructor in Practical Nursing with rotating campuses, Kingsport, Boones Creek, and Elizabethton.

 

GENERAL DUTIES: The Practical Nursing Associate Instructor is responsible for the following areas including, but not limited to, teaching and supervision of nursing students in simulation labs, on-campus classroom and off-campus clinical settings; maintaining confidential, accurate and complete records on paper and electronically; complete reporting as required in a timely manner; participating in the continued development of the program, recruitment of new students and placement of graduates; maintaining an active advisory committee; and other duties as assigned. Reinforcing knowledge and skills required for entry-level employment as a Practical Nurse. Instructors are responsible for best educational practices and the academic development of each student. Instructors monitor and reports student progress, manage classroom environment, and promote positive and engaging learning experience, provide support, tutoring and other assistance as needed. Instructors model professional behaviors, language, and activities expected of our students.

This position reports to the Director of Practical Nursing. The work schedule is Monday through Thursday 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and includes a minimum of 37.5 hours per week at an approved campus work site for instruction. Clinical hours vary. Rotation to other TCAT campuses and alternate clinical sites is required. Campuses include Elizabethton, Boones Creek, and Kingsport.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Required Associate Degree in Nursing; Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.
  • Unencumbered Registered Nurse license in good standing in the State of Tennessee.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience as an RN within the last five (5) years OR two (2) years of experience as an RN within the last five (5) years and 24 credit hours toward a higher degree in nursing.
  • Prior teaching or evidence of ability to teach students a plus.
  • Must meet all requirements set by clinical sites. Clinical site requirements are subject to change at their discretion.

SKILLS

  • Must possess the organizational and communication skills necessary to be an effective instructor and interact with students.
  • Must show evidence of good character and mature attitude.
  • Must remain current in the nursing profession and maintain active licensure.
  • Computer proficiency utilizing Microsoft office software, TEAMS, etc.
  • Must be able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Must have the ability to establish and maintain effective interpersonal working relationships with students, faculty, staff, the general public and business/industry representatives.

SALARY: $55,983 - $67,181 per year. Commensurate with Tennessee Colleges of Applied Technology -- Elizabethton guidelines and directly related to experience.
