SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Student Support Services Director, the Administrative Assistant 1 provides front-line support and essential administrative coordination for the Student Support Center. This role serves as the primary point of contact for students, faculty, and staff, ensuring individuals are welcomed and connected to appropriate campus and community resources. The position requires strong communication skills, discretion, and the ability to respond calmly and effectively in sensitive situations while supporting the daily operations and strategic initiatives of the department.
POSITION OBJECTIVES
Holistic Student Support
- Respond with sensitivity and professionalism when assisting students, faculty, and staff seeking supportive services, including personal counseling and basic needs resources.
- Support staff efforts related to the Tiger Cupboard, Helping Hands Fund, and Wellness Survey.
- Maintain department calendars and coordinate scheduling to ensure timely student access to services.
Teaching Excellence and Program Innovation
- Participate in departmental strategic planning efforts to enhance student support services.
- Support program development and implementation, including coordination of pre- and post-program logistics.
Organizational Culture
- Welcome and engage students, faculty, and staff in a professional and inclusive manner.
- Serve as a liaison between students, faculty, staff, and administrators to facilitate communication and service coordination.
- Use inclusive language and communication practices that promote a supportive environment.
- Promote, support, and participate in student recruitment and retention initiatives.
Fiscal Stewardship
- Maintain accurate and organized department records.
- Assist in the preparation and completion of recurring reports, including those required by the Tennessee Board of Regents.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Required Qualifications:
- Education and training: High School Diploma or the equivalent
- Work Experience: One year full-time clerical experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Post-secondary education
- Experience in educational setting or those related to social services
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge: Proficient use platforms such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point

Salary Range: $30,251 - $35,545
