This position reports to the Director of Information and Multimedia Technology and is primarily responsible for maintenance and installation of computers, printers, and network components including cabling for the main DSCC campus, remote centers and DSCC supported agencies.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Identify hardware/software problems by reading technical manuals, research on the internet, and communicating with product technical support specialists.
  • Resolve problems with computers, printers, network devices, and cables by replacing components.
  • Install operating systems and application software on computers to correct/fix problems as appropriate.
  • Install and test new computers (including student labs), network devices, printers, and network cables.
  • Install and support classroom technology.
  • Research and make recommendations for purchase of hardware and parts.
  • Answer user questions related to software and hardware.
  • Travel routinely to the other DSCC locations to ensure all locations are being supported.
  • Assist other Information Technology staff to ensure that the institution’s IT resources fully support the objectives of the institution.

Working Conditions

Moderate work that requires sustained or repetitive movements.  The majority of time is spent standing, stooping, climbing, bending, and/or shifting positions.  Requires daily walking to perform tasks.  Frequent lifting and/or carrying of weights up to 50 pounds; use of tools and equipment requiring a minimum of body movement or effort to control.  The position will require traveling to our other DSCC sites on a routine basis. Moderate exposure to dust, grease, noise, inclement weather, temperature extremes, and unpleasant but not hazardous odors.  Occasional exposure to risk controlled by safety precautions.  Frequency or severity are limited.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to work independently to solve problems and handle a variety of assignments simultaneously in an organized, systematic manner.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Minimum of one-year experience in working in a technical field or environment     

Minimum Requirements of Education and Experience                                 

  • Associate degree from a regionally accredited institution.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience using Microsoft Windows operating systems

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution.
  • Six (6) months of experience in providing customer/technical support.
  • IT/Support experience with a Tennessee Board of Regents institution.
  • Experience with Classroom Instruction Technologies.
  • Experience with office support including computers, printers, scanners, and distance education and classroom technologies.

 Minimum starting pay is $45,151 annually ($23.15 per hour). With additional experience pay increases to a maximum of $49,900.
