Job Summary
The Aviation Maintenance Technology Instructor/Coordinator is responsible for developing, planning, and preparing a complete progressive course of study, lesson plans, assignments, instructional aides, and keep these revised and up-to-date to meet the requirements of the industry. In addition, this position is responsible for developing and maintaining positive relationships with industry, high schools, and businesses to promote the Aviation Maintenance Technology program.
Job Duties
- Instruct students through lectures, demonstrations, simulation, and/or audio-visual aids to prepare them to enter the Aviation Maintenance Technology profession - (Essential)
- Prepare and/or revise syllabi of courses of study with detailed lesson plans - (Essential)
- Maintain confidential student academic records and submit reports related to the program (i.e., grades, attendance, discipline, etc.) - (Essential)
- Maintain ongoing competencies by participating in continuing education opportunities to remain current in the field - (Essential)
- Attend meetings, day and/or evening, with program stakeholders - (Essential)
- Administer assessments to evaluate student progress - (Essential)
Minimum Qualifications
• High School Diploma
• Post-secondary training from an Aviation Training School
• Must have a minimum of 3 years' experience in Aviation Maintenance Technology field
• High level skills in oral and written communication.
• Evidence of strong work ethic as it relates to timeliness of reporting, oversight of multiple on-going projects, and the ability to work with others.
• Proficient computer skills.
• Ability to deal tactfully with students, public, and co-workers; to exercise good judgment in evaluating situations and making decisions
Preferred Qualifications
• Prior teaching experience, especially in a postsecondary setting.
• Associate degree or higher from an accredited institution.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Must show evidence of teaching ability
• Must be proficient in Aviation Maintenance
• Must possess the organizational and communication skills necessary to be an effective teacher.
• Must possess computer skills
• Must show evidence of ability to perform all aspects of teaching which includes meeting deadlines for student reports, following institutional and state/federal policies and/or regulations, etc.
• Must commit to remain current in the Aviation Maintenance field and maintain program accrediting status
• Must have knowledge and ability to analyze and solve complex problems related to Aviation Maintenance Technology
• Must have ability to interact with adult students.
• Must show evidence of good character, mature attitude, and stable personality
